The ‘Active Learning in an Active Classroom (ALAC): Transforming Nutrition 272: Physical Activity and Health curriculum and classroom design to promote physical activity and enhance learning’ project funded through a Tufts Innovates! competitive grant began on July 1, 2014 and concluded June 30, 2015, with evaluation and data analysis activities continuing through the summer of 2015.
The overall goal of this project was to transform an existing physical activity and health curriculum by integrating tools and technologies into classroom learning experiences and infrastructure and to assess the acceptability and impact of these changes. Specifically, the project aimed to enhance students’ learning experience by developing and implementing an Active Learning-based curriculum; to assess student acceptability of and satisfaction with the curriculum and infrastructural modifications; to measure the impact of these changes on student learning outcomes; and to determine the potential for scale-up of infrastructural modifications at the school and university level.
